Ryan, Jo, and I ran the Beach to Beacon 10k this morning. The run itself was amazing, loved every minute of it! However, (yes there is a very big HOWEVER) everything surrounding the run was crazy. I'll paint the picture:
Imagine 6000 people running from point A to point B. Those 6000 people had to park at the start...somewhere...we landed a spot in a rain soaked field where countless people were getting stuck in the mud (the Subaru held her own). Okay, so the 6000 people run through picturesque Cape Elizabeth...beautiful run! Then the 6000 people land themselves at Fort Williams Park, again beautiful Maine scenery. Okay...now here's where it gets RIDICULOUS! 6000 people now need to get back to their cars, on buses, on ONE road in a cute little town. We got on a bus that dropped us off half way back to our car, WHY? I still don't know. We then ran an additional 3 miles to get back to our car, where even more people were getting stuck in the mud. We took our own path and the Subaru held her own yet again! It then took us 45 minutes to get home - should have been 10 minutes! Basically we had 3 additional hours of travel time after the race. It sucked.
We should have been home by 945am at the latest! We rolled in at 1230pm...I'm a little bitter. No pictures either!
