It was a beautiful day when we left Maine. Saying goodbye to
the kids was hard, Sayre in particular.
Wyatt seemed indifferent. We were
a few minutes delayed leaving Portland, but nothing major. We flew over the house, continued down the
coast, pointing out all the beaches along the way. We flew over Plum Island and downtown Boston. Once over Boston we started to head inland
towards Philadelphia. We arrived at the
Philadelphia airport without issue. Once
in the airport I made the mistake of walking us out of the terminal and hence
requiring us to go through security all over again. Awesome.
The monitors said one gate, the gate said another gate, we walked all
over the airport until we finally had picked up some dinner, walked to our gate
and walked onto the plane. We didn’t sit
down at all for the 1-hour layover in Philadelphia. I suppose that’s good! 6:40pm Wednesday we took off from
Philadelphia and headed towards Venice.
Our flight from Philadelphia to Venice was perfect. We ate a great pasta dinner and slept most of
the way. We woke up with 2 hours left in
our flight. Had coffee and a Danish, looked
at all the beautiful mountains out the window, watched a little TV and viola,
we were in Venice! Once off the plane
Ryan got tickets for the water taxi and I waited for the luggage. Our luggage was the first of the
carrousel! That never happens. We had a 5 minute walk to dock and hoped on
water taxi. It was about a 45 minute ride to the hotel. Once at the hotel we had breakfast while our room was getting ready. We spent the entire day just walking around! It was perfect. We're doing our best to stay awake up until 8pm, but I'm not sure we'll make it! We're exhausted! We actually slept from 7pm-830am Friday morning.
