Okay Okay...Here's an update!!!

It's been a very busy 3 weeks.  I haven't touched the camera.  This will be a written update.

  1. D.O.G.S. (Dog Owners of Greater Scarborough): I was hired on 10/4 as the Field Coordinator for a petition drive (signature collection).  Long story short: the Scarborough Town Council passed a town wide 24/365 leash law on all public property in reaction to an endangered bird being killed on the beach by an unleashed dog.  A group of dog owners felt the town council went overboard, pulled petition papers, and a citizens referendum was started.  We collected more than enough signatures with 5 days to spare in the required time frame.  Basically, we killed it!!  We did an amazing job.  Now we are in phase 2 - a special election in which the town will need to vote on the issue.  My level of involvement in phase 2 is still being figured out.  I'll keep you posted.
  2. Kids Cross Country:  I've been coaching grades 1 - 6 since September and our last practice is this coming Monday.  We've meet 3 times a week and I've loved every moment of it!  Sayre and Wyatt both participated and did an amazing job.
    1. Sayre is an amazing little runner that goes out to run for love of just running.  She reminds me of a butterfly in the meadow.  Just floating along, taking it all in, and enjoying the scenery.  She is consistent and steady.  She loves it and she loves the friends she made (especially the 6th grade girls and some of the older boys - OH BOY!)
    2. Wyatt, on the other hand, is a competitor.  He doesn't like to lose.  He is fast.  He has natural talent.
  3. Kyle St. Clair 5k (10/19/13): Sayre and I registered for this race months ago, I figured Wyatt would stay with Ryan.  Turns out Ryan was unavailable - Quartet competition.  So I brought Wyatt with us and I figured I would pawn him off on someone at the start.  I couldn't find anyone  to leave him with, so he had to come walk / run the 5k with us.  This is a community event so we had tons of friends around.  We started out at a slow run.  Our friend Mike came up to Wyatt, whispered something in his ear, and off they went.  We never saw them again.  I walked the course with a friend, our girls chatting away behind us.  When we crossed the finish line, there was Wyatt yelling "I've been waiting for you for almost 30 minutes for you!!!"  It turns out he wasn't really exaggerating.  Mike said Wyatt chatted away the whole time, never slowed, maintained a steady pace, and cross the finish line in 27 minutes.  He wasn't even registered, but the age group he would have been in was up to 19 years old.  He would have placed 9th.   I think we have a little runner on our hands.
  4. Soccer, Horseback Riding, and Musica de Filia:  Wyatt finished up a very successful soccer season and had a lot of fun!   Sayre is still riding on Fridays and singing on Tuesday and truly loving every moment of it!
  5. Exchange Street Quartet:  Ryan's quartet competed in the the district competition over the weekend and placed 5th!  For more information on the New England District and how big it actually is, check this out: http://www.nedistrict.org.  The quartet is very happy and they were really fun to watch!!
  6. Doors:  We are in the middle of replacing both front doors and adding storm screen doors to both entrances.  One door is in.  We should finish the project next weekend.
  7. Marathon Training: I'm training for another marathon, December 7th in Rehoboth Beach, Maryland.  I had a little bump in the road as I was on antibiotics for a sinus infection and diagnosed with exhaustion.  I took a week off and am back at it now.  I ran 18 on Friday and all seems to be good!
